Rhythm & Hues to hire 200 artists in Taiwan

A little over three weeks after  reports that financially troubled Rhythm & Hues Studio will commence operations in City of Kaohsiung,Taiwan. The company is planning to hire new employees for its facility in Kaohsiung.

The studio is seeking creative artists which includes special effects engineers and animation artists.The US based studio participated in a job fair at National Chung Hsing University which is located in Taichung.

Whether the Job vacancies  in Taiwan is a new beginning for Rhythm & Hues or a respite before a bitter end still remains unclear. The company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 11th February 2013 , hour after Life of Pi won BAFTA for the best vfx. Life of Pi also won Best Director for Ang Lee and Best VFX at Oscars.

 

The federal bankruptcy court in Los Angeles approved stalking horse bid by Korean media concern J.S Communication. A stalking horse arrangement  allows the buyer to liquidate the company. They can sell the assets to several buyer. J.S communication will not liquidate Rhythm and hues studio.

Current employees of Rhythm & Hues has organized a demonstration the afternoon of the Oscars and were attended by  over 400 people. Artists are demanding trade union and there is no  agreement amog VFX industry professionals about the most productive course of action.
